Monday — Stand Firm Under Opposition

Suggested Scripture: 1 Peter 3:13–17

Key Verse:

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear”
—1 Peter 3:15 (NKJV)

Following Jesus does not mean opposition will disappear. Peter encourages believers to remain faithful when they suffer for doing what is right—and to respond not with bitterness or fear, but with gentleness and respect. Our conduct can show that Christ is shaping us, even when others treat us unfairly.

Imagine a worker whose colleagues make fun of her for refusing to join in gossip. She could answer with a cutting remark, but instead she stays calm and treats them with kindness. Later, when one of those colleagues faces a difficult family situation, she listens and offers practical help. Her steady kindness does not erase the disagreement, but it opens a door for an honest conversation about the hope she has in Jesus.

Standing firm is not the same as being harsh. We can hold fast to what is right while honoring people, blessing those who oppose us, and serving those who need hope. Ask God to make your words and actions a faithful witness today.
